Thank you for your interest in opening a Grounds for Coffee franchise. Because we integrate tried-and-true franchise practices with the individuality of each owner, the Grounds for Coffee business concept provides a unique opportunity: you choose your shop decor and food products that appeal to your personality, and your clientele, while enjoying the benefits of a consistent product line, drink menu, and proven business practices. Unlike big-name franchises that call the shots from corporate headquarters, our system allows you to make the vital day-to-day decisions at your own Grounds for Coffee location. We are relentless when it comes to providing you with high quality products, effective procedures to ensure excellent customer service, and a reliable supply chain. This unique combination allows you both the flexibility and confidence in starting your own shop.

We established the Grounds for Coffee Franchising Corporation to build a co-operative network of owners who contribute to the enhancement of the Grounds for Coffee franchise experience, and share in the profitability. Together, this group of like-minded owners will continually help build the "systems" that improve the way we all do business. Since we opened our first coffee shop in 1991, we have been perfecting the systems and processes we use to keep our shops operating efficiently. Our mission, to Exceed Customer Expectations, continues to be the cornerstone of how our shops succeed. While every customer is unique, our systems, when properly implemented, ensure consistency, quality, service and value.

The Grounds for Coffee drink menu is extensive. Hot or cold, sweet or not, even the non-coffee drinker will find a favorite on our menu. Our barista training, will have you quickly preparing all the essential espresso, coffee, and non-coffee beverages. With over 60 types of coffee, our whole bean program centers on variety and freshness. We include beans from all coffee producing regions, with a nice selection of blends, dark roasts, and, unlike many other coffee retailers, Grounds for Coffee has an extensive line of flavored coffees. All are top quality arabica beans, roasted to perfection and delivered each week, within 24 hours of being roasted.

Like our business concept, our fee structure differs from other franchises. We require an initial franchise fee of $10,000 and a flat monthly fee of $500. We do not charge a royalty based upon sales, which can run up to seven or even nine percent with other franchises. True to our concept, you control all the other start-up costs. You choose your equipment, you determine the size of your operation and build-out. (We list this range in our Offering Circular to be between $50,000 to $200,000.)While we cannot guarantee your success, experience has taught us why some shops thrive while others just can't get off the ground. Here's what we've learned. No one will care about your business the way you do. Therefore, we are most interested in franchisees who will be on-site owners. We've found that employees work harder, customers are happier, and your bottom line is healthier if you are in your shop. While coffee is your core product, you will find that the success of your business depends upon building relationships with your customers and employees. Do you love being around people and getting to know them? We can provide you with the systems to successfully operate your coffee shop, but you need the interpersonal skills to nurture the bonds between your staff, your customers, and your vendors.

Adequate funding is the final crucial ingredient for success. We strongly recommend that you have at least half the total cost to open your Grounds for Coffee franchise in liquid assets, and if possible, a second source of income. In any new business, staying power is half the battle.

Chances are that you won't have an immediate income upon opening, and any profits you do make will go back into your business. But, with careful planning and patience, eventually you can enjoy the personal rewards and financial benefits of owning your own business. If you're ready, the next step in the process of opening your Grounds for Coffee franchise is to fill out our application and mail it to us.

If you have any immediate questions or would like to let us know what area you are interested in, please feel free to email us. We look forward to the possibility of building a fun and profitable future together.
